Career Counseling
Career Counseling begins in the 8th grade when students complete the interest inventory through their Planning Your Dreams account. They get their results and attend 8th Grade Career Day at APSU. But the Planning Your Dreams account stays active into high school and beyond. It's a great resource because students who use it to its full potential are walked through the process of matching their interest, skills, and values to careers, finding out more about their career matches, discovery which colleges have programs that will lead to this career, and will link them to those colleges websites where they can apply. It also has tips for interviewing, a place to create a resume, and financial aid information to include a database of scholarships. The Clarksville-Montgomery County School System pays for every student to have an account and we encourage students to take advantage of it. Please pay attention to information on Planning Your Dreams in addition to other valuable career exploration resources below.
Planning Your Dreams
The account is free. Many students have an account from middle school and can use the user name & password recovery function provided on the website. Students will need the KHS activation code to create a new account or to update their existing account. See your counselor for the activation code.
A parent account can then be created and linked to the student by using the student's account information. Information about Planning Your Dreams and the Parent Account is available below. www.planningyourdreams.org
